Kitchen Refurbs – do’s and don’ts

One of the easiest ways to boost the value of any home is a kitchen, but what exactly does that entail? If, like the majority of people, you hand over all responsibility to professionals, you will need to run through some pre-construction steps.

1. We need to understand what THE CUSTOMER WANTS - a detailed brief. 

2. We need to fully survey the property, this requires.

Understand the building requirements, i.e. many lease holders require a full method statement including a schedule of works from a registered company. 

Understanding what we can and cannot do with the space – for example, we have a soil pipe in the kitchen that cannot be removed.

The most crucial stage in our opinion is here – we need to make sure that the client understands the potential and the limitations of the project.

In the example below,  the client wanted to keep the original flooring surrounding the kitchen, the flooring consists of  engineered hardwood 18mm plus heating mat ( 6mm ) then insulation board ( 6mm) -  taking this in to account we would need to raise the new waterproof floor to level with the current engineered floor.

This requires a little more expense that the client didn’t consider, so it best we highlight this now so they do not get any surprises. At Property Contractors 247 we always aim to be fully transparent and our clients are never shocked with additional costs.

3. We help the client visualize what the kitchen will look like, and make final adjustments. And agree on the final product.
